March 21, 2008, Newsletter Issue #182: Buying Cheap RAM

Tip of the Week

Most RAM chips are manufactured by the same few Japanese companies, and then branded with individual names, so buying a "brand name" doesn´t necessarily ensure you "better" RAM. I have always bought the cheapest RAM I could find, and have never had a bad chip.
The most important thing to check is the warranty offered by the seller ... generally, if there is something wrong with the module you buy, it will fail pretty quickly. As long as you can get a replacement at no charge, go for the lowest price!
For some good online RAM merchants, check out the links section ... hey buddy, wanna buy some cheap RAM?
