Many text applications let you save a file as stationery, so that you can use it over and over. But what about those applications that don´t? Use the Finder!
Select the icon of the file you wish to use as a template, then choose Get Info from the File menu (or type command-i) and click the Stationery Pad option in the lower right corner of the Get Info box.
When you open the file again, you´ll get a fresh, new copy and your original will remain intact.
