Most software packages and even some hardware drivers come with serial numbers which you must enter to activate the program. When the time comes for you to re-install that software for some reason, will you be able to find the serial number? Here's what I do:
Most software comes on CDs. When you first open the package, locate the serial number (on a label, in the manual, on the plastic packaging, wherever) and cut it out, peel it off or copy it down. Then stick, tape, or write it on the back of the CD case.
